The opening ceremony can be described as world class by any standards, judging from the calisthenics displays from students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Kawo Kaduna and the Federal Technical College, Malali, Kaduna.
The planning and arrangement from all angles can best be described in one word “captivating” and if several words are chosen for the description, ecstatic, pulsating, pageantry, pomp and classy are other adjectives that can be used in explaining the thrills spectators that trooped from all parts of the country experienced through out the eight hours that the ceremony lasted.
The presence of the President of Nigeria and the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who was represented by the Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan also gave the opening ceremony a national activity.
Other dignitaries that were on hand to support the great achiever, Kaduna State Governor, Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo were 12 governors, several Senators, including ex-governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi and PDP strongman/Gubernatorial aspirant, distinguished Senator Isaiah Balat and elder statesman, Dr. Umaru Dikko.
