Welcome To Kaduna
It
is an honour to welcome you to Kaduna State for this all-important
event. On behalf of the Government and people of Kaduna State, may
I seize this opportunity to express our gratitude to the
Honourable Minister of Sports and Chairman National Sports
Commission, his able Director General and entire staff of the
National Sports Commission and indeed all stakeholders in sports,
for your support as we prepare for a festival that will Insha
Allah, for a long time remain in the memories of Nigerians, as one
of the best ever.

His Excellency Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was born in Fadan Kagoma of Jema’a Local Government of Kaduna
State on 1st December 1948. He had his Primary Schools at St. Paul’s Primary School Fadan Kagoma and St. Pius Primary School Magamiya. He then proceeded to the famous

State is essentially an agrarian society which has the
potentials to grow a diverse variety of crops both arable
and tree. It also has potentials for the Livestock Industry
and fisheries considering its endowments with both natural
water bodies and dams. The state has a total land area of
about 4.4m. hectares out of which about 2.0m hectares is
arable land, with population of over 6million (2007 Census)
made up of 450,
170 farming families. Governor Namadi Sambo is restructuring
the Agriculture Sector to meet international standard with
support to rural farmers and attract investments to the
state.

Do you know that...?
The
1st Festival was held in the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos
thirty five years ago in 1973. The concept was modeled after the
Garman Spatakiad Games where youth gather every two years to
compete against themselves. Since its inception, the Festival has
held fifteen times by twelve states of the Federation including
the FCT. During this period, it has hel the Local Organising
Committee (LOC) of the 16th National Sports Festival (NSF) has
finally fixed a date for the 10-day sports fiesta that is expected
to bring together youths all over the federation. Read
